Lusaka Business and Technical College was established in 1956 and was then called Hodgson College. The name was changed to Lusaka Trades Training Institute and finally it is called Lusaka Business and Technical College as the result of introduction of Business courses in the College portfolio.


The advent of the Technical, Education, Vocational and Entrepreneurship Training TEVET act no 13 of 1998 brought in the Management Boards and currently the College is managed by a Board appointed by the Ministry of Higher Education. The Board members are from the Community, Church and Corporate World. The senior management team includes the Director, the Deputy Director, Finance Manager and Human Resource Manager. There are four Heads of department, an Assistant Accountant and Marketing Officer who form the Middle Management Team with a pool of professional teaching staff.
